The KCEA Scholarship Fund is a grant program that assists low- and modest-income families with tuition costs at the KCEA-affiliated school of their choice. KCEA receives donations from businesses under Pennsylvania’s innovative Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs and distributes those funds proportionally based upon the results of a professional need analysis
Funding levels during the program’s history have allowed KCEA to provide assistance on a sliding scale to about 300 students per year (averaging a total of about $250,000 per year). Through June 2015, qualified businesses have contributed over $2.41 million to help fund over 3,750 opportunity grants through the KCEA Scholarship Fund. Through June 2015, KCEA has minimized overhead costs to maximize the scholarship moneys going to needy families and kids to help them enroll in the KCEA school of their choice. With over 95% of contributed dollars going to scholarships statewide, students receiving financial assistance have been residents of 49 counties throughout the state.
